I want to make my own aisle runner because all the ones on the internet are going to end up being about $200 dollars because of the length I need. I want to make a chocolate brown or dark gold runner but I don’t know what kind of material I can use, possibly something I can get at Joanns. Anybody have any suggestions. I know there have been post for DIY aisle runners but most of them seem to be using that already made white aisle runner cloth and doing monograms on them. Help!

I plan on following this bride’s DIY tutorial – she used muslin bought from a local fabric store. Hope this helps!

This has been posted on other threads before, but try local Wal Mart stores. Most of them are getting rid of their fabric and so they are seriously pricing it to move! I got a dark ivory colored textured silk type fabric (polyester) for $1.50/yard; One seam down the side, turn it inside out and finish the ends and VOILA!

Check out mine under my post’s – I am using a poly/cotton blend which was $2.40 a yard at Ultra Fabrics in Miami – Walmart probably also carries this fabric for less. Pure cotton can also be used but it’s more expensive. The paint works perfect on the fabric I am using. Simple acrylic paint, which comes in a million colors at Michaels, is what I used. Good luck!
