I have been married for five years this December. I wear my engagement and wedding rings all the time. Cleaning house, scooping cat poop and gardening etc. it feels odd when I don’t have the weight on that finger. I feel like I am missing something. I have decided to just wear a different ring on that special finger for every day use. My rings are now cleaned and repolished and waiting for the next real outing. Does anyone else do this as well?

shannjjj: I only wear my e-ring when I go out. I know everyone say that the safest place your e-ring is is on your hand. But I just feel weird like my ring so way special to just be wearing it around the house when doing house chores. I’m also paranoid that something will happend to it. In addition, I have a fake e-ring which I use when I travel, go to the gym or when I have to walk the dog at night. Again, paranoid but this time of losing it.

I wear a replacement around the house and when I’m doing other things that could damage my originals but when I go out or if people will be coming over I wear the originals. A lot of women do the same thing, it’s not abnormal. 🙂

I dont think I’ll wear my ering all the time after we get married as I had my wedding band band (full eternity with 1ct diamond weight) made to be beautiful on its own. Who knows, maybe I’ll wear my ering on my right hand/with the wedding ring/mix it up as I feel?

I work from home and so I’m in “atheleisure” clothes most the time (hate that word, but you know what I mean!). I don’t put on my engagement ring unless I’m going somewhere in real clothes. I’ve gotten weird comments (“Aren’t you engaged? Where’s your ring?”) from acquaintances but it’s a piece of jewelry, not a contract. I plan to wear my wedding band every day (wearing on my right hand, engagement on my left – cultural difference), but even after the wedding I’m guessing my engagement ring will stay an occasional piece of jewelry.

It depends what I’m doing out. If I’m just grocery shopping, then I usually won’t wear my engagement ring. I’m paranoid about hitting it on stuff while I’m at the supermarket reaching for various items on the shelves. I do have the ring insured so it’s really not a big deal, but I just feel like I can move around faster and be less carefree when I don’t have it on. If we’re heading out for dinner or other engagements, then I will wear it. I always take my e-ring off when I get home though, and just leave my wedding band on. I always wear gloves when I’m doing housework, so it’s pretty safe. I do take off my wedding band when I sleep, because I find that my fingers can swell a bit during sleeping, so it gets uncomfortable.

I wear my wedding band only. It’s an etoile style platinum and diamond band, really comfortable.
I’m very active and I have a toddler, so it doesn’t make sense for me to wear my engagement ring unless it’s a special occasion. I’d scratch someone’s eye out!

We switch for special occasions!
I have stackers for e-ring, w-band, a-bands, etc.. My hubs, too (sans e-ring). We both switch back to our w-bands only for attending weddings. It just feels more romantic that way.
