I hate to say this but my husband has a Liberty and it has a window regulator defect that they refuse to pay for and there is a current law suit pending (google if youd like). One window breaks about every 6 months putting us back around $3-500. We have have every window break more than once, and has had the car since 2005.  Research the model you want just to make sure as while some Jeep models are awesome, others are known to be lemons!

@MrsLoebbs:  Ah, lucky lady! Well in that case I suppose you have some room to not only bargain but take more of a risk 😉

My husband has one as well, and to be honest, we don’t love it…. I find the fabric stains really easily, there seems to be various problems with it at any given time, and it just does ride so nice…. We have 75,000 miles on our 2007 Liberty. It is great for the snow, I just don’t think we would buy another one.

On the flip side, I owned a Jeep cherokee sport (2001) model and it was the bomb. Had my cassette player rockin and drove it through sick snow storms, to the barn ( horse owner) and around town without a problem. I just did a ton of research as to what year was a good model.

Hi MrsLoebbs,

I owned a Jeep Liberty about 10 years ago (when they first came out)… and I was first divorced.  It is the only vehicle I owned 100% by myself (probably another reason I loved it so much… who doesn’t have great memories of their first car?)

I absolutely LOVED it, but then I am a SUV kinda gal.  I had the top of the line, Limited Edition with all the bells and whistles.  It was great.  Loved all the space it had inside, very comfortable in the backseat for passengers, and with them folded down TONS of room… more so than even the big SUV that I drive now.  Remember I helped a Girlfriend move, and we put her full mattress in the back, with room to spare.  Can’t do that with any other vehicle I’ve ever owned outside of a pick up truck.  The space with the seats down was huge, both for width but also height, amazing for transporting stuff !!

The vehicle was primarily bought because I live in a snowbelt. It ATE up the snow, that alone would be reason enough for me to buy another.  And I never had too many problems with this vehicle (the blower speed control went though… to the point that I only had the option of LOW or SUPER HIGH nothing in between).  The only real downside I can think of is it went thru a ton of gas (It was a 200 HP, 6 Cyl model).  So that made it expensive to run day-to-day.  After I met my SO, we decided that I could do better than that, so we traded it in… I was sad to see this great vehicle go.  But am happy with the vehicles we now own together, but I still have a “soft spot” for my Jeep.

I had an 05 liberty sport.. I loved it! I miss it every day :(. Had to trade it in when I took a new job, because of the gas with my 50 mile work commute.  Besides the fabric staining issue it was a fantastic suv! It was great in smowmageddon here on east coast. I Would suggest leather or seat covers, for sure!
