Darling Husband and I live in an apartment and our lease isn’t up for 3 months after our LO is due. Because of space, we won’t have a nursery right away. Once we move we plan on decorating an adorable room for baby but immediately after he’s born he’ll be rooming with us. I feel kind of sad that I don’t get to decorate a nursery yet. Anyone in the same boat?

I haven’t been in that boat b/c I don’t have kids but I don’t think it’s a big deal. Most mothers that I know have the baby in their room for a few months to make night time feeding easier (either co-sleeping or in a basinet). I know that my little nephew didn’t sleep in his own room until he was 6 months old.
THere will be lots of time to decorate a nursery (and then a toddler room and then a kids room and then a teenager’s room) in the future. I wouldn’t sweat it. And think of how much work you’ll save when moving!

morganc8: Not a mom yet, but my mother never had nurseries for us. When we were little, our crib was in her bedroom and then when we were old enough to be on our own at night, we had a regular bedroom. Don’t feel bad about not having a nursery right away! Your baby won’t know the difference, and honestly, I plan on keeping my little ones close at first just like my mom did.

morganc8: While we did have a nursery before our kid was here, we didn’t use her nursery for anything other than storage for about 6 months after she was here. She was in our room until then. Don’t sweat it at all!

Thanks guys! Even if we had a nursery, I’d be putting baby in our room at night at first so it doesn’t make a big difference. I was just feeling a little blue about it. It does give me something to look forward to though!

We didn’t have a nursery for either of our kids. They both bedshared with me, so a nursery wouldn’t have been used anyway. My now 2.5 year old didn’t move into her own room until she was about 20 months old, and my 5 month old is still bed sharing right now.

We never had a nursery. We moved out of our one bedroom apartment when Dear Daughter was 15 months old.
You can still decorate something. Maybe buy a cute basket for the baby’s toys? Put a nice picture to the wall next to a changing station? 😊

Yeah, I had a surprise pregnancy right after I resigned our lease on our one bedroom. So I never did one until we moved out when she was 4 months. It’s not really a big deal. I don’t use a glider/rocker so I doubt I would have spent any time in there. Even though #2 will get one I might not get it done in time and probably won’t spend time in there besides changing diapers. Both slept/will be sleeping in my room (I set the crib up in our room for #1 and I am going to do the same for #2) for at least the first 4 months.

At the time when my mother had me, she didn’t have a nursery and we co-shared her bedroom. She was scared that I would start rolling around so she bought a mattress and had it placed near the bed and that’s where I slept. Looking back she said it was a good choice for her since she didn’t own her house and wasn’t as finacially well off enough to be spending on a nice nursery. She just took me with her during the day around (portable cot) so she could keep an eye on me so she never really had a need for a nursery.

Thanks bees. I’m feeling better about it. We will decorate a little corner for our little one.

I’m due in november and we currently live in a one bedroom condo. The condo is on the market but if we don’t sell by the end of this summer, we wont have a nursery. I’m not worried- the baby will be in our room for awhile anyways. You’ll be fine!

haha, I have made a nursery 3 times… and none of my babies have ever used it, or slept in a crib. lol. The nursery is more for mom’s to have fun planning and decorating I think.

Cory_loves_this_girl: We bedshare too and DS is currently 6 months. Just curious how your Dear Daughter took the transition to her room at 20 months?

morganc8: We have one and he has not used the crib once in six months. LOL. You arent missing anything – make a pintrest page to brainstorm your ideas instead!

Our baby gets about half a room, the rerst is DH’s office space… Can’t tell you how well it works because we’ve got 8 weeks til she’s due, and we actually haven’t set up any of her furniture yet. As soon as we get back from vacation though!
