Does checking cervical mucous and position after ovulation really help?

I only check for a day or two after O just to ensure that it “dries up” aka gets sticky or no longer ewcm as a sort of back up confirmation of O. It is normal to have some ewcm come back about a week after O and some people even get it right before AF again. Some people say they had more creamy CM than usual during the TWW when pregnant but I think it’s honestly a crapshoot. And then for CP, I don’t think CP raises up until after you’d get a BFP. So basically CM and CP in the TWW are not reliable predictors of pregnancy and IMO are not worth tracking after O is confirmed.

I’ve been pregnant twice (sadly, both ended in MC) but with both I had A LOT of creamy white CM after O that lasted til I got my BFP and beyond. On cycles where I wasn’t pregnant, I never had that abundant creamy white CM.

I would stop checking once O is confirmed tbh. I think you’re gonna drive yourself mad as the signs can be different for every woman.

I got pregnant only using OPKs. So I think it is just a preference not a necessity.

I check CM daily because I use a CM focused  method of FAM for both TTA and TTC. That being said, I don’t rely on CM as a potential pregnancy symptom. Since I have PCOS and don’t ovulate well regularly, checking CM daily helps me see if I am having multiple surges before O or if I’m not Oing at all. If it’s stressing you out as a potential pregnancy symptom I would stop checking after you’ve confirmed O with temps. FX!

zstbee84 :  I continued checking my CM not CP but that’s because it was always easy to spot on TP or sometimes on my panties. Mine was always creamy after O.

If you temp and confirm O I don’t think you need to worry so much, but if you don’t temp continuing to check for fertile signs can be beneficial in case the first time you geared up for O but didn’t O.

I’m sorry, I started AF today too after 11 months of trying. I’ve never been pregnant. I have no words for you but I’ve heard that despite having a miscarriage, the sperm met the egg and that’s a start, knowing that at least that can/has happened for you! But it truly sucks that you’ve had to go through a loss on your journey. And remember that everyone is different and sometimes it just takes longer to get one to stick.

zstbee84 :  i mean, ewcm can indicate ovulation is coming, as can opks, but a clear temp shift is the only way to know for sure. Honestly, as my OB reminded me, you can spend all the $ on fancy monitors and temp and do everything but as long as you have regular sex in the fertile period none of that information will change your chances of conception which oddly relaxes me. Like, if you know your normal O window then just aim for every day or every other and the chance is the same as whether you drive yourself nuts doing all the testing and checking cervical position etc.
