I don’t think so.  I had my first fitting at DB yesterday and my seamstress said that her other brides had cancelled and I was her first of the day.  She was a bit annoyed (I think they just didn’t show up instead of calling and cancelling) but they can’t technically charge you.  As long as you don’t go to a fitting, get pinned, pay up front for alterations (which you must do at DB) and THEN decide that you want to go elsewhere, you should be okay. I know that once you’ve paid, regardless if they’ve started on alterations, you will not get your money back.

Do you already have your dress?  I would just call them and say that you’ve changed your plans and you won’t need any alterations with DB, but that you thank them for their service and helping you pick out the perfect dress.
