Does Engagement picture theme need to match wedding theme?

It doesn’t matter. Your theme is for your wedding not your engagement.

No issue that I can see. A lot of couples pick the beach or somewhere scenic for their photos and it has nothing to do with their wedding theme. It is a meaningful place to you and that is all that matters!

The beach sounds lovely!

I don’t know of any couple’s photos that matched. Most seem to be at the place they met ( ie university) or a nearby park. You’re fine!

bcrowe :  In the grand scheme of things, I don’t think it really matters! But, that being said, we did two different locations for our engagement photos. We did sunrise pictures at the location where he proposed by Lake Michigan and then we went to a baseball field (our wedding theme) and took some pictures there! Does your wedding have an obvious theme? Maybe you could incorporate it somehow in the engagement pics, but like I said, not neccassary!

bcrowe :  I wouldn’t give it another thought. We’re doing a beach Destination Wedding in Mexico and having our engagement photos in the high desert in Oregon. The settings could barely be more different. Going somewhere beautiful that has meaning to you is the only thing that matters.

I feel that a theme is so temporary, compared to a place that has emotional significance to you. We took our engagement pics at a location that has special importance in our lives, and there was no theme. We did white, blacks, and blues for our outfits, but our wedding colors are yellow and red. We did our pics in the spring, but we’re getting married in the fall.

Definitely take your pictures in a place that has meaning to you. You may forget or even regret the theme of your wedding later on, and it certainly doesn’t have much importance in your lives, but you’ll never forget the special place where many happy moments took place.

I think I’ll be adding touches of my theme to our engagement photos: red shoes, yellow umbrella, but I’m really hoping we can get our stuff together fast enough to have our engagement shoot take place at the Butte MT Mining Museum. We’re getting married in a garden, so it’s pretty much the exact opposite of that!

If you don’t have matching themes, someone will for sure call the cops on you. Best to avoid that.

Nope! You’re overthinking it! Did you ever notice someone else’s engagement photos not matching their wedding theme? Tbh, no one cares that much about your wedding besides you. So you do you boo!

I purposely wanted different photos for my e-pics so that i’d have a variety when we include our wedding photos! Some beach, some vineyard, some sunset, etc.
