Are your texts/messages anything important? Or are they just “random thoughts?”

We don’t have this problem because we don’t text.  He doesn’t even have a cell phone and I only have a blackberry because I have to have it for work.  🙂

No.  He’s not attached to the hip with his phone.

I don’t usually text Darling Husband much. Back when we were dating, this used to bug me because I would text him on my breaks at work, and sometimes hear nothing. But I know he is busy and that I more than likely won’t get a reply as quickly as I want, so I don’t do it, lol. If I have something important I need to ask/talk to him about, I just call!

I don’t text him very often, pretty much only when I have a specific question or information he needs to know (i.e. “I’m on the ferry. Be there in 10”) because he rarely writes back.  I did get annoyed a couple weeks ago when I had texted him about something, and he didn’t respond.  When I saw him later that day, I simply asked him why he didn’t respond.  Didn’t make a big deal about it though. Just asked the question, listened to his answer, and moved on.

I was cranky one day and considered that maybe I shouldn’t respond to his texts if he wasn’t going to respond to mine, but maturity kicked in and I recognized that if I didn’t like feeling ignored, he probably wouldn’t either, and tit for tat is no way to grow a healthy relationship.  So, I adjusted my expectations, and now if I feel the need to text him an “I love you” or a little bitch about my day, I do it without expecting an instant response. We both have better things to do then spend all of our time exercising our thumbs anyway. Getting text messages all the time annoys me, and there’s something about being available to people 24/7 and the expectation of instant responses that I find unappealing.
