SUPER annoying when photogs didn’t post pricing. I think I emailed 1 or 2.. but honestly, if you’re not going to post your prices, I don’t need your talent that bad 😛

I think a general idea is nice, but that full details are unnecessary. Every photographer I considered did not list prices, but I was able to get an idea of what would be a reasonable cost by comparing their work to other who did post prices so when they gave me their quotes I knew if the prices were good or not. I quickly learned that for my area I would be paying over $2000 for the time and images and over $3500 if I wanted prints and album(s) included.

I would prefer for you to be upfront about pricing. I don’t want to waste my time and yours if I can’t afford it. It makes it easier for me to filter through photographers.

Anyone who sells anything or offers any service that doesn’t list pricing (or a general idea) will get skipped over by me unless it’s something I’m so in love with I just have to find out if it’s affordable. In a competitive business, I think it’s a dumb move.

Yes, I actually got really irritated by this haha.

I agree with PPs who suggested “Our packages start at ______”  or “range from _____ to _____”.  Just ANY idea is good, ya know?  I like to have a general idea of what I’m in for before I commit to making an actual phone call.

Just adding another vote for “prices online are a must”. Honestly, there are so many photographers in the area we are getting married in that if there isn’t a price on their website I just move on. If I saw someone that I just LOVE then I would email, but most of the photographers I am looking are very similar in terms of talent. I know I am probably missing out on people who I can afford by not emailing for prices, but seriously, it feels like I have 5 million things to do already, why add one more? And I want to echo the idea that I DO NOT want to negotiate, I want to know what you charge and I what I get. I do appriciate that this is a mix of artistic talent and a fee service, and it’s nice that people what to hear our “vision” for the wedding pictures, but c’mon. Just cut the bs and let me know what your fees are Wink

If they don’t list prices I assume they’re out of my price range. List your prices people!

It bothers me to be honest. I mean at least list the starting price for your photography on your site. I’d hate to have a budget of 1,500 and find out that a photographer’s nice photos start at 2,200. That’s a waste of my time as well as theirs.

To me, if the price isn’t listed, I assume it’s too expensive and move on.

It doesn’t bother me.  If I am impressed with the photos, I’ll inquire about the prices/packages.  It only takes a few seconds to fill out a contact form on their website and usually photographers (the one’s I’ve dealth with) respond within the next day or two with brochures, packages, etc.

I will contact if there are no prices listed but I do find it irritating to not include a price range or even a “prices start at $X”

I sent the same email to so many photographers and other vendors.  I had sent so many emails for basic pricing info I didn’t bother to even respond to many of them (that I had then decided against) when they asked me further questions after sending their pricing.

So it’s annoying but if I really loved the work I would send an email.  I do think all vendors should list a price range or a “pricing starts at $X”.

IMO all venders should at least indicate their prices as in “Package starts at $____ “

I don’t understand why some don’t even do that. I get it if you are a super high end photographer with clients lined up without trying though, because in that case we will know they are unreachable anyway.

unless they are free, they’d better list some prices… I’m not gonna hound them.

It irritates me, but I will still inquire if I like the work. It just means that sometimes I get all these quotes that are out of budget! (I have expensive taste in photography!).

The worst experience was one vendor, who was recommended to me by my venue, and he didn’t list prices on his website. So I sent a quick inquiry email to ask about pricing, etc. I received a LECTURE back from said vendor about why price should NEVER be the first priority when booking this type of service, blah blah blah. Pretty much trying to make me feel awful that that was the first thing I asked. Needless to say I did not respond and did not book him.
