Let me first start by saying I love non-pregnant Jessica Simpson. I love her style, her hair and shoes. But as soon as she announced she was pregnant my positive image of her faded.
Here is why: I have a major pet peeve and it is probably going to get some ladies angry. I cannot stand when pregnant ladies hold their stomach. It makes my skin crawl. And since Jessica Simpson has announced this pregnancy–I have yet to see a picture or video clip of her not holding her stomach. We get it your pregnant and not fat, but you don’t need to hold your stomach 24 hours a day; it’s not going anywhere.
Am I alone?

I hold my stomach because there’s really no where else for my hands to go these days if I don’t want them to hang by my sides and have my fingers swell up.
ETA: I’m more resting my hands on top of the belly than hugging my bump, which might be what you were getting after . . .

@tobemurphy10: Holding your stomach is a way of communicating with your baby, they feel the mother’s touch and are comforted by it. I don’t think pregnant women hold their bumps to show the world they are pregnant, it’s more about connecting to the baby they are carrying.

@tobemurphy10: I actually think she is a super adorable pregnant lady. I don’t mind the belly hugging at all.

I’ve noticed that I have been holding the top of my belly as well. It naturally started happening the bigger my belly has become.

I don’t know much about her holding her bump, but to me it feels like Jessica Simpson has been pregnant for about 3 years. Everytime I hear about her I’m like ‘She’s STILL pregnant? How is that even possible?!?’

Before I had a pregnant belly, I thought this was odd, too. However, as my belly has grown I find myself holding / touching my belly more. It’s comforting to me, a natural position to put my hands in, and it’s often in response to feeling kicks.

She’s happy and excited. No big.

@Roux: I was just thinking that – she’s got to be due any day now.

I think she’s a real picture of what most pregnant woman look like. I adore her. I rub my belly a ton too. Plus when people take my picture, I put my hand or hands on my tummy too. I think I would look slovenly to just stand there with both my arms dangling by my sides. No one who isn’t pregnant does that either. They do something with their arms and when you’re belly is there, there’s very few other things to do with your hands and arms.

@Roux: She’s due in March, but it does feel like she’s been pregnant for a very long time

@mwitter80: I totally agree! So refreshing to see a celebrity who actually looks like a real person!
I actually met Jessica when she had an appearance in Toronto and she was lovely!! She looked so healthy!

Of all the annoying things about Jessica Simpson… this is what bothers you? Ha ha- I’m just not a fan. It does seem likes she’s been pregnant forever.
