My seamstress suggested I wear a hoop skirt with my dress. I’ve never wanted a poofy dress, but after trying it on I liked how airy it felt and that it would keep my dress shaped nicely on a windy beach. I think I’ve decided to wear the hoop skirt, but I’m looking for outside perspectives. What do you think looks better?
With added volume (not a great picture because the camera is off to one side and doesn’t show the bottom of the dress):

It looks much more feminine and flattering to your figure without the hoop!

without!!, it looks kind of lumpy with it.

I like how nicely it hangs without- with the hoop it looks a bit stiff and awkward?

Like you said, it may be the picture, but the one with the skirt looks kind of off – like it poofs out in a weird way.
Based on these two pics, I like without the skirt much more.

I think the hoop makes it look a little bulgy and funny, much better without!

I am not sure about the hoop. But maybe you can consider a mermaid slip that is not too poofy? I think the slip will still give you the shape and structure you want but without being so stiff like with the hoop.

That hoop looks like it adds a lump rather than volume so I voted without it

I’m usually bigger is better but I actually like the without! And even though you might be on a windy beach I think those pictures are beautiful!

The hoop your seamstress suggested seems to big for the dress. You shouldn’t see the hoop and now you do.
The hoop will make it easier to walk in your dress and of course make sure the shape of the dress remains in place. Try searching for a smaller hoop. Like this one.

I think it looks nice both ways, but I would add volume in a different way, and not use the hoop. I feel like they move funny, and just end up being odd. You want movement in your dress. Can she add an underskirt for you to see how that looks?
P.S. I love your dress!

@LadyIrene: It’s an adjustable hoop, so maybe she had it set too big.

I paid for the hoop at my first alterations appointment, but you ladies are making me think it was a mistake. Oops.
