So I have my e ring a couple months now. When I first received it I wa surprised how thin the knife edge looked.
I had been undecided between 2mm and 2.5mm. I wanted it to look substantial but not bulky. Moissaniteco videos show the ring so up close that I thought it’d be wider. In hindsight I probably should have gone with 2.5mm.
I guess aswell no one know has knife edge ring and they’re band’s look wider. I just don’t want my ring to look costumey.
What do you bees think? I don’t know how to measure the band to check the width is right as it’s knife edge.

Jillyb33 : when I had one it was 2.mm and looked just like yours. I think it’s gorgeous ring.

Jillyb33 : 2mm is thin. That’s why people choose it — they want a thin band. A knife edge is going to look even thinner when viewed from the top down. I’m not sure how that would make the ring look costumey. If anything, the stone might. Not saying it does look costumey, but if it DID, it would be due to the stone, not the band.

Looks about right to me. The knife edge will make it look thinner (and yours looks to be a sharper knife edge, which would make it look even thinner). My knife edge is a little bit softer and is probably around 2.5mm.

I have the other version of the sol238a before the new changes in the 2.5mm version with a softened edge and rounded prongs requested and I would say your band looks about right at 2mm. I think you percieve ot as looking thinner because the angle you are used to looking at it in. Your ring is gorgeous and does not look like costume jewelry. You also have to remember your set will look more substantial after you add the band. Heres mine for reference!

Your ring looks great and like other PPs said it looks thin because of the knife edge but if wanted to try meauring it you would need to measure from the underside that sits against your finger instead of over the knife edge on the outside.

Mine is wider though it tapers towards the bottom and still looks thinner than yours. Why would thin make it look like costume jewelry?

Thanks bees for your replies.
I guess I thought it wouldn’t have been such a sharp knife edge ( I did request it to be softened in the comment box). I guess they didn’t do it. The ones I saw online that I liked the look of we’re a much softer/rounder knife edge like the tiffany setting. There wasn’t anything similar locally I could try on. The stores here don’t list the width of the bands and the staff usually don’t know off hand. My friends who bought/partner picked out their rings they don’t know their width’s either but they all look thicker than mine.
I didn’t think there would be such difference between mine and redearthlady’s. Even though there is only .5mm of a difference. Thicker bands will be less sharp too I think.
My promise ring is a pave knife edge and that was the thickness I was hoping for. I tried measuring it before ordering and thought it was 2mm. Think it must have been 2.5mm ish though. I’ll upload a photo and I will also measure the inside of it when I’m home- thanks for that advice.
Its just a matter of getting used to it and yes when I get my wedding band I won’t notice as much I think.
Re the costume jewellery comment- I guess when I got the ring it felt so narrow and light. Also I saw a thread on here where bees had warned people against thinner bands for durability and about a girl where her friends/family thought her ring looked like costume jewellery as the band was so thin.
Feel free to post more pics with various band sizes

Ye are making me feel a bit better about my ring as I can’t help drooling over online pics of the thicker rounded tiffany style knife edge solitaires!!!
I measured my promise ring on the inside and its 2.5mm and not 2mm.
Looks like a soft knife edge aswell. I thought my ering would be that size but I was wrong.
Here’s a pic. Photos make it look a little bit bigger than real life.
flower895 : thanks 😊 it’s 7mm/1.25ct

Mine looks to be about 2.5mm I think- I can’t be positive, I just picked it at a local jewelry store. Your setting looks thinner than mine but just as lovely and not costumey at all! I’ll share a pic:
