My ring is pretty high, so I am biased, but I agree that yours is too high.
My ring is pretty high, so I am biased, but I agree that yours is too high.
I would say the curved prongs are your preference – if you like it or not. I think there is too much space under your diamond though.
Very pretty set- but it’s too high for me, but I don’t like high settings. I think it could be lowered and still have the look of the high setting, but be more functional. I would be so scared I would loose that diamond.
lilsweetie: Awwww thank you, the wedding bands are identical and they are I-J colored stones and there are 8 stones on each ring totaling 1 carat on each band. The setting is a “shared prong with an open gallery”. I guess the open gallery is because the sides have no metal so you can see each individual diamond which I adore!!! I could end up keeping this e-ring setting if there are no options and still love it/get used to the height but I definitely want to see what my options are before making a final decision. Will def keep everyone updated, i am new here but already love that everyone helps each other out no matter what type of question is asked.
Cheekie0077: Well right now I have about 3 weeks or so to change the setting at no cost to me… They are the ones who gave me a different setting then what I was told I was getting so if it needs to be fixed within the next couple weeks they have to pay for it unless I get something totally different haha 🙂
Yes, it seems like you could sip through a straw under there! Your ring doesnt need any hoisting up. Make the bottom of the diamond barely hovering over the band IMO. It’s more secure and comfortable. Lovely stone though.
First, all of your rings are gorgeous! As a fellow princess-cut fan, I definitely feel that the new ring sits too high. I’m careful with my rings, but I’d be banging that high setting on everything. I also prefer straight prongs. My engagement ring recently needed a new head, and it was replaced with one in which my princess sits lower. I couldn’t be happier! My ring is much more “user friendly” now! 🙂
princesspinkbride: I like the curve of the prongs BUT I do think it is set too high. I would be getting that thing caught on everything.
Your set is gorgeous! The solitaire is set high, but I think it is so pretty! it was me, though, i think I’d get it lowered somewhat.
Beautiful ring but, yes, that is ridiculously high. If I’m not mistaken, the diamond shouldn’t have a gap under the setting. It should fit flush. At least that’s how my solitaire was. I would get it fixed.
2ndchance: well my old diamond sat above the band too but just slightly, I will be very picky and tell them exactly what I want this time around and not just agree to anything haha… I trust my jeweler though and know nomatter what they’ll make it right. Will post updates this weekend as I’ll be going in Friday now to view other prong settings!
princesspinkbride: by the way, I do like the curved prongs. makes it softer looking
Lovely diamond! I’m a big fan of princess cuts but agree that the setting looks too high. I’d be scared of knocking it out or it being sliced off in a bin lid or similar (but I’m pretty clumsy)!
Hmm, looks too high to me indeed. I do love the look of a tall stone but not with free space underneath it. My 3ct OEC moissy is very tall but I love how the setting sets it as low as possible:
