Sorry, but I have to vote “no” on that color combination. I don’t think brown matches with navy and grey.

I’m not a fan either – we have brown furniture and we tend to go with brighter colors to contrast the neutrality of the sofa.

I think it can work but you have to be careful not to make it too dark and dreary.  Keep the gray color very light and keep other accents light and bright.

Some examples of the color combination that work

not navy but would work with navy as well

90% of the time, I don’t think brown works with grey.

I’ve seen it in *just* the right shade where it’s okay, but most of the time, no.

@sfigu16:  We just completed a reno of our whole condo and boughtall  new furniture. We have a brown leather sofa, milk chocolate microsuede chairs, grey walls (Benjamin Moore Balboa Mist), charcoal area rug and turqoise accents. It looks fabulous, if I do say so myself.

We also have brown hardwood flooring and a charcoal grey feature wall in the kitchen.

Don’t listen to anyone who flat out rejects any color combination. Most colors have undertones. If you pick a grey that has a brown undertone, it will work well.

http://colorschemedesigner.com/ Might be slightly limited for what you’re asking about specificly but you’ll get an idea of what colours work together – select the type of scheme (that’s the mono, triad etc area) and then have some fun dragging the dots around on the colour wheel. ^^

Hope that’s kind of useful, and it’s totally free (just in case you’re worried :3)

@julies1949:  I agree.  There are no color combinations that flat out don’t work. It’s all about finding the right shade and right amount of each color.

@sfigu16:  No curtains No window treatments yet. We plan to get roller shades the same color as the wall- like this.

This isn’t our place.

@sfigu16:  yes this scheme absolutely works. i tell my clients all the time(im an interior designer) that grey is 45 different colors. it’s blue, brown, green & purple. just find the right shade and it will all come together. find a warmer grey (more browns/greens) than cooler..and it will look lovely 🙂
