Hmm….I understand your mom’s point, but there are so many other options, do you think everyone MUST have a potato as a side dish?

I see what she’s saying, because I don’t eat sweet potatoes. But there are other starches on the menu…I’d just rack up on mac n’ cheese!!

I think you’re okay with the mac n cheese, but why don’t you ask your caterer about the price of adding mashed potatoes? If it’s a plated meal adding another option sounds complicated, but if it’s a buffet it would be okay.

I think your menu sounds great the way it is! I wouldn’t eat the brisket or the chicken but I would eat the other stuff, for sure! And I don’t think you need to add another potato dish since you have so many other options. If your mom is really set on having another potato, then ask your caterer and see how much it would be to add another dish. But honestly, I don’t think you need it.

I think you have plenty of options now… however I get your Mom’s point.  I myself am not a fan of sweet potatoes but if I were a guest there are tons of other stuff to choose from.  I suppose it wouldn’t be a bad idea to add another option – but it would have to fit into your budget.

I think you have a wide selection of sides as it is so adding potatoes is by no means necessary unless you really want them. We just made our final menu choices and I kept reminding myself that while we want to accomodate our guests there is certain food that they are provided with. They will be just fine.

Sweet potatoes are one of the greatest foods ever, so I’m deeply suspicious of anyone who would not eat them. (kidding, sorta….)

But I think your menu looks awesome as is. To appease your mom, if it isn’t too expensive, mashed potatoes or homefries would fit well.

I would add mashed potatoes and gravy but you certainly don’t have to. It is true that not everyone likes sweet potatoes. On the other hand, not everyone likes okra or pasta. No matter what you pick, there will be at least one item that people don’t like. But the majority will be able to find at least one side that they do enjoy.
