I was originally set on a more modern wedding, but I’m now gearing towards more of a romantic/elegant feel. I wanted to pick violet as my color, but does that read romatic to you? I should also add I’m having a summer wedding…

I think it’s pretty romantic, with some nice candlelight especially!

Purple is the colour of royalty so it’s definitely elegant. I’m not sure if it’s romantic per se…when I think romantic I think of shades of red/pink.
Btw, I’m having a purple wedding in June! =)

I think it’s so romantic! Go for it!

I think purple is very elegant, and can be romantic, depending on how you do it. If you go with a little lighter purple (or mix light purple with violet) then it can be romantic. I think that purple is a wonderful wedding color. Have fun with it!

What about Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses? I really didn’t like lavender on them.. I wanted something more bright to pop.

I had a dark purple wedding and everyone told me how elegant my wedding was!

Purple is definitely elegant and the lighter shades lend themselves to romance. I think your BM’s can still have a brighter shade and still fit into the romantic theme.

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
It’s all in how you use it. Lavendar is good for a soft, romantic feel. Violet is a little more bold and whimsical. And a deep purple/plum is more sophisticated and elegant. We chose a deep purple as an accent color (paper products and bouquets) in a mainly black and white color pallette. In small doses it gave a really elegant, understated feel to the day. http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/our-intimate-elegant-lovely-affair-teaser-pics

purple bride here. we are doing eggplant/plum dresses, my bouquet will be purple and orange. tangerine orange to bring in fun color- plus hubby to be loves orange… and gray. long dresses on bms and suits make it elegant plus a night time ceremony and reception. candle lights for centerpieces bring in the romance and drapery will also..

I sure hope so!!! lol…i’m doing the same but adding black and cool gray to the mix. Having a valentine’s day event, but was wanting to stay away from the red/pink cliche, so hoping that my combo would be just as romantic as the usual reds and pinks.
