Weird, lol, I’ve never heard of this or seen this done. But, hey, I haven’t been to everyone’s wedding haha. The reason for the wedding party wearing specific colors is to distinguish them from the guests. But if you don’t have a problem with your family doing this, than its not a big deal 🙂

the only people who should match the wedding party colours is the wedding party! the mob and mog should pick colours which complement the theme but should not look like bridesmaids. maybe your cousin dosent realise its an ettiquete faux pas. if i were you i’d have a wee word and just let her know you’re giving your guests fashion freedom to wear any colour as long as its wedding appropriate, apart from the colour you’re wearing and the colour of the bms. good luck!

@rangersbride:  I don’t think it is a crime if her wedding party is wearing blue and she wants to wear a blue dress (or something similar) There are only so many colours that dresses come in, what are the odds of her having the exact same shade of dress? slim to none and the odds of her wearing something that could be mistaken for a bridesmaids dress is hopefully slim too.

Now if she asked what shade of davids bridal currant are they wearing I would be concerned, but if its a generic ‘red, violet, blue’ type thing then who cares, let them wear whatever they like.

maybe its a British thing, but the whole point of dressing them in one colour IS to distinguish them from the other guests. It does depend on the colour though, What if your wedding colours are something like hot pink and lime green?you wouldnt know who the bridal party are. Its poor ettiquette. Using your example of a generic colour like blue its not as bad. but as OP said the Grooms side are going to feel awkward. It IS poor ettiquete to attempt to look like bridal party when your not in it and depending on the size of the wedding it could be a bit much for the other guests.
