Yes, but I would have much rather just given the photog the $75 it cost to feed him the discounted vendor meal. We both probably would have been happier!

The photographer would not have been happier if he/she wasn’t fed for an 8-12 hour period.  Most likely he would be collapsed on the floor somewhere…  Boxed lunches from a deli also work great as a vendor meal.

We did photog, second shooter, DJ, and DOC.  The got to choose their meals from the meal choices our guests did.  Mostly because 3 of them were friends of ours.

Our caterer tried to sell me “vendor meals” (sandwiches & wraps) for half the price of a regular meal, but when i looked at the DJ and photo contracts they required a “hot meal.”  I thought that was interesting, and smart of them!

We will feed our photographer and DJ, mainly out of common courtesy and because our Photographer is driving 1 hour each way to our wedding location at no extra charge.

Our normal meals include an alcohol package for a grand total of $120/per person.  Our vendor meals are way simpler- protein, vegetable, starch, and $30/per vendor.  We are having one for the photographer and one for the DJ.

my venue requested full price meal ($120) for each vendor.

I provided for DJ (he stayed whole night) .. my photographer left just before mains were served, so i didnt provide him a meal…

I also didn’t think about feeding my vendors until I started doing more research on here.  Thinking about it some more.. My photographers will be driving 1 hour each way, coming 2 hours before, and I will have paid for 6 hours of booking time.  I realized that I should feed them!  It’s not in the contract to feed them, but I’m going to talk to my caterer about vendor meal costs.  If it’s the same as the guests, then I will just have to include that in my budget.  So many things to think of!!!

Yes to feeding the vendors. My Fiance is a videographer and he always tells me about eating the good food when he films weddings which is what made me think about it…. Or else I don’t think I would have. You especially have to feed photographer/videographers who are there with you all day. They have to eat too!

Would you feed a DJ that is only there from 8 to 12? (that includes set up time)

What about if the photog is only there under 5 hours? We’re having a small wedding and have asked the photog to be there for bride prep only, the ceremony, the post-ceremony, and the cake cutting … and he estimated under 5 hours of work. No other vendors will be present, other than the lady dropping off the cake.

I’m a wedding photographer and it’s in my contract that I get one meal and at least two breaks (at appropriate times, of course). Of course, I COULD bring my own lunch/dinner, but that would require bringing along a cooler (or else food spoils, remember most weddings are in warmer months) etc and the last thing you want your photographer worrying about on the day of your wedding, is what they’ll eat. I don’t expect the guest meal, just something to get through the day. Considering how much people pay for photographers, an extra $20 isn’t going to break the bank.

Our photographer was very specific telling us she’d need a meal for her and her assistant and would be sitting with the guests, albeit ‘somewhere around the edge’.
