I am starting to look at doing my invitations, and have hit a dilemma already. Does the style of the invitations have to match the style of my Save the Dates? I am planning on doing something simple (get a kit from Michaels, or just get pocketfolds and do a nice paper with my design), and print them at home.
I just can’t justify spending $500+ on invitations. No offense to others that want to spend that much, but I’m paying for most of the wedding and can’t fathom shelling that much out for paper.
So the dilemma is, do I try and match everything to my STD, or does it even matter? Here’s a picture of my STD:
And I thought of maybe incorporating the flourish…but I don’t want it to seem too redundant!
I fell in love with these, but it just seems like SO much work to try and tackle at home.

Nope, doesn’t matter at all. My Save-The-Date Cards were super informal with a drawing on them, and lots of colors, while my invitations were very formal, letter pressed, and green and white. They don’t have to match at all.

I didnt send STDS, but I know they dont have to match. By the time the invites are sent out, most ppl dont even know where their STDS are, so they wont be holding them up comparing them. Plus lots of ppl send non-convetional stds, like pencils, magnets, mini calendars, boarding passes, train ticket.. so they definitely dont have to match the invites

Ours will match in theme since we’re doing a fall/halloween wedding. Our Save-The-Date Cards have pumpkins and leaves on them, and we’re going to try to put pumpkins back in our invites, though they’ll be more formal.

Gorgeous STD. Great job! Our Save-The-Date Cards and invitations will have the same overall theme/feel/aura but they don’t necessarily match. However I don’t think that you have to match at all.

Mine won’t match. No biggie!

Okay phew! That makes me feel so much better.
@bells: good point about the guests not holding their Save-The-Date Cards up to the invites and comparing. I just wanted them to look vintage-y, so I’ll just make sure the invites have the same feel.
@Meowkers: thank you! I love how they turned out. I was overthinking them at first (of course) and then i just did them, and they were exactly what I wanted!
