I’m thinking of buying a pre-owned dress. The seller said it has no evidence of dirt/etc except on the hem. This didn’t bother me at first because I knew I’d have to hem it anyway. However, I didn’t consider the train. When a dress is hemmed, is the train hemmed also? For reference here is a pic of the back/train.

I’ve generally been told while dress shopping that they hem the front and sides but leave the train so you don’t lose any of it – but assuming you don’t mind, I’m sure they would gladly hem it a little all the way around.

My train was not hemmed. I would not worry too much about a little dirt on the hem; you can always ask to see pictures to see how much. If it’s on the underside, nobody will see it.
