While walking through the Dollar Tree today I came across glass beer steins. Seriously these things are legit. They’re thick, heavy and look to be of great quality. At only a buck a piece I picked up enough to add to our Groomsmen gifts (got one for Fiance too!) so now all we need to do is get them personalized. We’re just interested in engraving (or would it be etching on glass?) the guys initials, nothing corny. I’ve used Things Remembered in the past but if I recall, it was only for items I’ve purchased through them. Does anyone know if they’ll personalize outside items? If you used engraving services in the past, did you find it cheaper to go elsewhere? I’m looking to do this on the cheap but I also want to make sure it looks nice.
As an aside, if you’re in the market for beer steins, check out $ tree…
Obviously a good washing is in order!

The one here does outside stuff, not sure if they all do. If they don’t then any trophy shop will do them.
I have about a dozen of those, Darling Husband loves those for his beer.

Most jewellers also do glass etching.

I bought our toasting glasses from a different store and they etched them for me. I think it was about $45.

I read online that TR will charge a “set-up fee” as well as the normal personalization fee so I may be better off going elsewhere.
@tksjewelry & @julies1949: I’m going to check into both of your suggestions. Thanks!

They do but be careful. We took in 8 vintage straight razors for our guys to have them engraved and they put the same initials on two of them and then acted like it was our fault. Thankfully my husband had bought all the stock form the man he bought them from so we had one extra. Sucked though because they got all shitty with us and my husband got stuck with a razor with his friends initials. Plus it was a forty minute drive from our house and we had to make an extra trip there and back because of this.
What pissed me off most was I caught the mistake when we got there to pick them up. They didn’t notice they had engraved two of them the same. They offered us something free after I got upset enough but I hated all of their stuff, finally they reimbursed us the 50 dollars for the razor.
I know others probably have had great experiences with them but I am not a fan.

The one by my house said it depends on the item- they will if it fits their machine- but they can’t do all items.
