vilo:  the pear is darker because it’s not a great cut, and the light is escaping in the bottom of it.  I’d say yours is pretty good.

vilo:  Yes lol that weird machine calmed me down too after i got my ring cleaned at a jeweler and was afraid they might have switched my stone. If you love it then you have nothing to worry about!! Find a setting that you love and enjoy your engagement!! Diamonds look way better after being set πŸ˜€

vilo:  You can’t tell from a photo. It’s really hard to photograph diamonds.

Now, I am one for letting the stone “speak” to you, but if you are having second thoughts about mounting it, don’t.

Wait and go to a jeweller you trust for another opinion. To my unprofessional eye, it does look milky. Sorry πŸ™ It is, however, very hard to tell in a photo posted online.

ETA: I own and often wear a diamond I inherited from my great grandmother. It is an oval, imperfect stone with chips and I love it like crazy. It’s one of my favourite right hand rings.

I don’t think there are any ugly diamonds, but that’s me. Go with your heart.

vilo:  Getting it appraised will also help with insurance! In case you lose the diamond/ring or it gets stolen, it’s good to have a value attached to it to have it replaced.

I think that diamond is pretty. The only question that matters is  Do you like it? Diamonds are so unique, it really boils down to personal preference. for example: Do you like how it sparkles? Could you stare at it for months on end and not get bored? Do you like how it looks on you finger? I love the story behind your diamond and it is nice to have a part of history with jewelry. Does the story behind it hold sintimental value to you?  if all these answers dont help, maybe…..

Are you worried that it doesnt look like everyone elses diamond?

The cut looks strange to me. It looks like a white sapphire

I think it’s a lovely stone. I see what people are saying about milky but I love how it seems to have a soft glow. Personally between it being passed down and appealing to my own aesthetic I would definitely rock it πŸ™‚

I think it does look cloudy but honestly I don’t know what that means in regards to diamond specs lol. I think it’s beautiful and I would LOVE to inherit a stone! And I’d just consider any of its imperfections “character” πŸ™‚
