(Okay so our wedding is going to be tiny (around 20 people – our parents, siblings, and best friends) and I guess kind of nontraditional; we’re getting married in a local arboretum:
(obviously that’s not us, it’s somebody else’s wedding but it’s the only pic they have on the site, but this is where the ceremony will be!)
and then we’ll be taking everyone out to dinner at Dominick’s, a local restaurant that’s kind of famous in our hometown – there’s a super cool, quirky beer garden in the back that we’ll be renting, where we can eat pizza, drink beer, and dance:
So it’s going to be a pretty nontraditional wedding and I haven’t ever really wanted the big poofy white ball gown (although they are gorgeous!) and for our tiny, casual summer wedding I was thinking more along these lines:
Just a super cute, breezy white sundress with sandals – Fiance will be wearing brown cords and a white button down, probably, nothing very fancy, so I hope this will match.
I want to preserve some of the traditional aspects of a wedding (we’ll be setting up a chuppah and stuff at the venue, having an officiant, having a first dance after dinner, etc.) but I love the idea of a simple dress like this. Would it be too weird and nontraditional to wear something cute like this to the kind of wedding we’re having?

YEs! That location looks absolutely beautiful– I am so jealous of your wedding now!

I think it would be cute! Personally, I would want to get something a little more bridal, probably still short though. But from what you said your Fiance is going to be wearing, and the fact that you said you never really wanted the traditional ball gown, I think it will work out beautifully 🙂

These are closer to what I would look for. But whatever you feel fits you is the best!

- Wedding: September 2011 - Bent Creek Winery (Livermore, California); Reception: Family Residence (San Ramon, California)
That dress looks perfect for you and your wedding vision! And if you feel comfortable and beautiful in it, then that’s all that matters. 🙂

Yes, it’s what you want! It’s very similar to what I changed into on my wedding night. We, too, went to dinner. There was 12 of us.

Love your concept! If you haven’t bought the dress yet I recommend checking out Macy’s. I was doing a random search earlier today and they have a lot of short white stuff right now with very reasonable prices.
Just select the white color boxe from the menu on the left.

What size are you? I have a casual white summer dress that would maybe work for you that has a little bit extra in the detailing. I wore it for my private wedding ceremony and it’s been drycleaned and hanging ever since. It’s a size 6. Let me know if you’re interested!

It sounds perfect to me! I love eyelet dresses, especially for summery/woodsy feels! The only thing is that I don’t know how it looks on you, but in the picture it looks a little on the short side for a bride.
ETA: to me it looks like it only goes mid thigh because it’s empire waisted, I think around the knees would be good, which it might be, just cant tell.

I would want more of a bridal dress but I think its cute and if you love it go for it.
