I think that EGL cert is clearly wrong.  Its definitely a warmer color.  Not totally yellow but slightly tinted but not J either.

Personally, I think it looks too yellow. The side stones are fine if they are a lower quality, but so much light goes into the center stone that the lower quality is very obvious. Sorry!

That looks super yellow to me. I think I remember seeing a few J colored diamonds in person when we were ring shopping, and next to E/F/G’s, you could tell a difference, but I definitely don’t remember it being as drastic as it looks in that photo.

Maybe it’s just the picture?  Diamonds are difficult to photograph, but you’d think they’d enhance it to look whiter.  Eithe way, it’s a gorgeous ring, I’d just be careful if you think it’s gonna bug you (you’ll notice it every time you look at it).

I have an H and it’s no where near that color. I still think it’s pretty, but I wouldn’t pay for a J color if it’s not, know what I mean?

Yeah, its actually really yellow, especially since it’s white gold so its heavily contrasting with the bright metal/side stones. :/

It’s certainly warm. But they might have done that on purpose. Some people love warmer stones. And by some people I mean me. 😉 Personally, I find it to be gorgeous but I’m in love with M and lower stones (J does push it a little for me). It’s certainly something you’d have to love as well. Those in between shades are funny because they can sometimes look like a low quality white or a low quality fancy yellow. NOT ALWAYS. But sometimes.

My solitaire is a J.  Here is a picture for comparison.  I think it looks different, but it is warm and beautiful just the same.

I agree that it looks warmer than a lot of J stones I have seen and that may be an EGL grading issue, but it could also be the shape and cut… when I was looking at stones it seemed like cushions will tend to show more color than a round. When we compared a few cushions and rounds in stores, the rounds almost always looked a grade or two whiter than a cushion of the same color – the difference was very noticable.

The cert on that diamond is EGL, which is known to be a lot easier on color grades than GIA or AGS. The “real” color by GIA standard is probably 2 grades lower (at least). Most people can see some yellow in GIA “J”, so I would advise against going below that.

Very yellow… and not a J by ‘regular’ scale or whatever.  I wouldn’t get this ring.
