Whose hand is it? If this is her hand, does she have an opinion? It’s really up to her and her personality as to what would work.

In my opinion it looks too large, more like costume jewelry. That’s just me though.

beewp :

Consider the sort of jewellery  she already wears and that you have heard her say she likes.

That is a big flashy ring and may not be to everyones taste at all, she may love it of course, but she she may also love gemstones or non-haloed rings  or rings with plain bands.

I’d take her ring shopping, or at least window shopping,  and listen carefully to what she she says.

Well what did she say about this ring? I like the size, but I wouldn’t put a halo on a 3 carat ring

It looks to big to me. I would get the smaller one. Just my opinion.

DogsAndWine :  agreeing here. It’s a pretty ring but yes, it’s too big. Bordering on gaudy/costume jewelry but that’s just my opinion. If your girlfriend likes big and flashy then I’d say this is a good choice.

I would be uncomfortable wearing that in the way that I wear my wedding sets. My set is a 1ct oval so it’s considerably smaller than what you’re looking at, but I could see wearing a 2ct daily. The halo on the giant stone just looks a bit costume jewelry-ish to me, but ultimately it’s what your girlfriend wants that matters.

beewp :  I don’t think the stone looks gaudy, per se, but you’ll likely need to get one without a halo if you’re going for the 3ct due to her slim fingers 🙂

beewp :  too big looks fake like a fashion ring imho. I would focus one one feature… unique setting, halo, or big stone, but not all at once .

beewp :  I think it’s a beautiful ring – but I do think it looks a tad too big for her finger. The actual band looks too big for her finger so I would say if you had the same ring sized to her ring size it would look out of proportion.

For a stone like that I would remove the halo and let the beautiful diamond do all the talking.  Something like this:

Otherwise if the halo is more important to her than carat size, I would go smaller in the centre stone.

But the important thing is what she wants 🙂

Most bees on here dont seem to like large stones but if your gf likes it, that’s all that matters. I think its nice to have larger stones with a hidden halo or without a halo at all. A 2ct would be as large as i would go with a halo.

I have skinny fingers and a 4.5 ct DEW stone but no halo. So I obviously like big stones . i dont think it looks like costume jewelry either way.
