  • poll: What do you think of this sash/dress combo?

It works, great combo, stop panicking

Should have gone with raw silk

I have a better idea for you!

    No sash/belt at all

First, I just hve to say that dress is GORGEOUS! I love it! I think the belt works–it adds to the vintage-y feel of the dress. You are going to look phenomenal!

nch000 :  Let the lace of your dress be the star; it is striking enough and does not need further embellishment. I would go with your first instinct and use a raw silk sash, which in itself has a nice texture and is not so plain. The belt you posted clashes with the lace. Keeping the focus on the lace, I suggest stud earrings, but not necessarily the usual ones, but something like this:

I personally love the sash. It adds to the dress and defines your waist which is what you are looking for. I also love the placement of it just below the deep V. I think you will look amazing! I would keep the jewelery simple, I love the pearl jackets above!

I think the beading on the belt clashes horribly with the lace, sorry.

I presonally think that dress looks better with no belt, but if you are set on having one I would definitely go plain – sometimes #lessismore

nch000 :  I understand your reluctance about not using the sash your mother gave you. It can still be used in another way: why not use it to wrap around your bouquet?

Honestly I do not like those two things together. The sash detracts rather than enhances the dress. Also curvy people usually don’t need something to help Define their waist. Sashes only help with certain body types. It would be more helpful to see pictures of you in the dress and with and without the sash to make that judgment call.

If you are intent on using the sash, I would try to find another use for it. Are you carrying a bouquet? You can use the sash to wrap the stems of the bouquet. Otherwise can you turn the sash into a headband if you are planning to wear your hair down or take some of the beading and find a way to incorporate it onto a hair clip.

nch000 :  Just repeating my pp, but since you really want a sash, I would totally stick with that one. Obviously you liked it when you tried it on. I feel like it adds to the dress and keeps up with the formality. If you just had a raw silk one I feel it would be too plain. I think you will look beautiful!

Can we see it on you with belt vs no belt? 🙂
