I am currently trying to figure out a venue for our wedding of about 150-200. I am looking at a venue that has these specifications:
Reception and ceremony site: $600 (includes chairs, tables, linens)
Catering: $24.95 minimum (must use the venue’s catering and pay this price for anyone over 3 yrs old)
Alcohol: 3.50 per beer bottle, $250 per keg, $23 per bottle of wine, $60 per gallon of margarita consumed, $50 bar set up fee, $90 for bartender, and a 20% service charge on all alcoholic beverages
If we want a candy buffet as our favors, we can bring the candy into the venue, however we will have to pay the venue $3.00 per person attending the reception.
We can bring in our own cakes.
I am not sure if this is a good deal or if I should look at other venues where I can get outside catering and bring in our own alcohol.

Omg $25/pp sounds amazing to me. Do u have to serve margaritas? If I were you I’d skip those and stick to beer and wine.

@GracieWeds: We do not have to serve margaritas, or any alcohol if we don’t want to. However, I think we are going to go with either a ticket system (most of our guests will probably not drink) or estimate bottles for the individuals that will drink. I am not sure if the venue will take the unopened bottles or if we will have to keep them.

Sounds like a great deal. If you love the look of the venue, I’d go with it!

I agree, if you like the look of the venue, go for it.

Everything sounds GREAT!!!! I”m so jealous at those prices actually because they just don’t exist here!
the only thing I would consider changing is the candy buffet. $3/pp is A LOT just to set it up. I think you can probably get some great favors for that same price in addition to what you would have spent to set up the candy bar. Maybe individually bag them?

I said it doesn’t sound like a good deal. The most expensive plate of food per person at my venue is $13.50 and we bring our own alcohol. But that’s just me, and maybe just in my area.

@Miss. Snowball: I’m guessing that’s just in your area, I know that here pricing that low is absolutely unheard of and just doesn’t exist. I think that it’s a great deal, OP!

Yea, it kind of depends on where you are and how nice the venue and food is. Sounds like a pretty good deal for most large cities and for a nice but not extravagent venue.

Sounds like a great deal to me..but like everyone else said …depends on what area you are in.

I think it sounds like a great deal but it might not hurt to shop around a little. That way you will be even happier you booked there if it turns out to be the amazing deal the rest of us think it is and if not you can book elsewhere and save yourself some money. I think the candy buffet charge is ridiculous, personally I would forgo that which is a real bummer as I love candy buffets. Just doesn’t seem worth the price. Good luck!
