I was on the fence about wether or not to have a bachelorette party, and Fiance is trying to talk me into having one. I gave in and decided to have one, but I don’t want a big party night. I’m not a partying, drinking kind of girl and one of my BMs is only 16. My Maid/Matron of Honor and I thought about doing a riverboat cruise on the Mississippi, then dinner at an amazing buffet at a casino, then some gambling. There will be other people there to hang out with the 16 year old, so she won’t be by herself. She’s the one who actually said we should go to a casino. I know the casino dinner and gambling will be fun, but I’m afraid the riverboat cruise will be lame. Here is the description from the website…
Learn about the history of the St. Louis Riverfront, the Mississippi River, the Gateway Arch and all of the fascinating historic sites along the way. The captain narrates the cruise aboard the Tom Sawyer or Becky Thatcher riverboats.
A ranger from the National Park Service joins the cruise to explain how the river affects and benefits the surrounding city. Boats leave from the levee below the Gateway Arch.
The boat ride is an hour long, so it’s not too long. I don’t want to be known as the one who had a lame-ass bachelorette party. I’m leaning towards it being to boring, but I wanted to get outside opinions.
Bonus points if your from St. Louis and can come up with a better idea!!

That sounds so NOT lame…really. It sounds like a perfect night for you and your interests. No one says that bachelorette parties have to be wild all night drinking fests.

That sounds awesome to me :).

Update!….One of my BMs brought up the idea of a painting party. There is an art studio around here where you pick a picture and paint on a canvas…Apparently it’s like a paint by number thing. You can bring your own drinks and food too. That might be more fun than a boat ride.

@Fall_In_Love22: The paint party probably won’t be more FUN, but it may be more 16 year old PC. I actually love the riverboat cruise, I do.
I am the same way as you, I didn’t want or need one. We’re now doing a 5k (the Warrior Dash, we run through mud and fire, aaarrgh!) followed up with dinner and gambling too!

@Fall_In_Love22: The painting thing sounds so fun!! I don’t want anything crazy either. I’m not even 21. Good luck!

Maybe you could do both? I think both ideas sound great either way – I like the low key events where you can just relax. And it’s your bachelorette – so as long as you’re having fun, it is definitely NOT lame

That actually sounds awesome! I am a non-drinker myself and if it sounds fun and interesting to you, then you should do it!

I’m a history buff so I wouldn’t find the riverboat cruise lame if I were invited. I think the only “cruise” I ever hated was one we have in Michigan for the Sault St. Marie locks. You just cruise along staring at factories as somebody describes how the water rises to fill a lock… then they describe how you move through the locks as you go. That was really boring. Your little trip sounds like it will have a few things to see so that should be pretty interesting.
The rest of it sounds fun too. I’m not much of a party girl either so going out to bars/clubs is not my thing. I’m not sure about the casinos in your area, but maybe you can see if they have any shows in addition? You ladies could always go to a comedy club or something after too if you feel like the night would be too short. I think I’d have a blast on a similar night though.
