REI is national and they have a registry – we’re on it! Not sure where you’re located, so maybe that won’t work.

But otherwise, you know your guests and their sensibilities, so that would probably just fine.

last baby shower i went to had something similar – i wasnt bothered by it although i did wonder why she just didnt register (it was babiesrus & target) but the party went great and she got most of what was on the list.  by memory i was asked to tell the friend arranging the party what i purchased so she could cross it off the list – it was a bit of a pita

you can do an amazon registry online, which a bunch of my friends have done. That way you can get exactly what you want and aren’t limited to one or two specific stores. Also, I’d advise against including it with the invitations. Maybe designate a family member to disseminate that information after the invitations go out?

i second the amazon registry idea.  my fear would be if you didn’t register, you might get multiple of the same things, since no one can tell what anyone else has already purchased for you

I think if you can’t register a list is fine.  You could ask your aunt and cousin to politely suggest gift cards for these stores too if people don’t want to go to the trouble of finding the items.

I third the amazon registry. Having a list of gifts in with the invite doesn’t sit well with me…

I think it’s fine since the invitation will be coming from your aunt and it is for a shower.

That sounds fine. Are there any sporting goods stores (either nationally which can be found online) or in your area that have registries? If they don’t, ask to speak with the store manager and explain your situation.
