Okay, so we’re having a small restaurant reception the day after our wedding (reception date is 12.11.10). I’m looking at some tentative timelines now.
9:00 AM = Get up! (Oh god, that’s so early.)
10:30 AM = Have hair and makeup done
12:30 PM = Show up at Grandma’s house to get dressed
1:00 PM = Guests arrive at Gran’s for a meeting of the families; mingling, pictures, etc. for about two hours
Now, this is where it gets sticky…
2:45 PM = FH and I will depart from Gran’s to check in at our hotel (check-in is 3:00, non-negotiable time)
3:30 PM (ideally) = FH and I arrive at the restaurant for the reception. Now, we’ll let everyone know that our reservation is for 3:30–we forgot to mention that on the invites, but we can just spread the word at the family meeting, right?
3:30 PM – 5:00 or so = Late lunch/early dinner at restaurant
After that: optional after-party at a local bowling alley–yay!
Does that sound reasonable? Should I be allotting more time for hair and makeup or anything? It won’t take me more than half an hour to get dressed because I have a short dress and no veil. Should we perhaps leave earlier to check into our hotel? It’s about a 15 minute drive from Gran’s house, so I’m thinking we’ll be right on time…
Does anyone know roughly how long hotel check-ins take?
