They did get lucky, but they aren’t off the hook. I read they’ve paid @ 100,000, for things including Kate’s dress, the bridesmaid’s dresses etc.

They did luck out, but they are contributing at least $1 Million to the wedding expenses.  I just heard it on the today show this morning.

I read they insisted on paying, and that the dress was closer to $400,000. Supposedly the queen offered, but they didn’t want to be the family who bowed out of tradition. But that is just what I read in tabloids. 🙂

What does her family do?? Even if she is marring a prince, what “normal” family has $1 million (or pounds? which is more!) to spend on a wedding??

The Middleton family started a mail-order company in the 80s (selling items for parties), and became self-made millionaires.

Over here, we’ve been told that the wedding costs will be covered by the royal family and the Middletons.
