Help me settle this debate with a friend. She insists only kittens would like canned tuna. Personally I’ve never met a cat that didn’t go crazy for it. How about your cat?
Help me settle this debate with a friend. She insists only kittens would like canned tuna. Personally I’ve never met a cat that didn’t go crazy for it. How about your cat?
We have three cats, two 5+ years old and one 2ish years old. Two of them love it (the adult and the…teen?), one of them turns his nose up at it. The adult that loves it will eat pretty much anything we give her, though…she loves people food (we give her tiny pieces of chicken or fish or whatever we’re eating).
They both like only the tuna “juice” not the actual tuna so much.
Of my parents’ 3 cats (one of which they adopted from me when I moved abroad) all three LOVE tuna. If you open a can in their house, you are guaranteed to be surrounded by cats in an instant, no matter how far away or fast asleep they were before you opened the can. Formerly-my-cat is most obsessed with the water though. Whenever I’d make a can of tuna (I always bought it “in water”) I’d give her the tuna water.
My cat gets excited by the smell, but she won’t eat very much. Although I believe it is probably because I have never given her very much people food– after a “taste” she has had enough. Of just about anything.
I have 2 full grown cats. One loves it, but the other wont touch it. Its just a matter of taste
I don’t have a cat anymore but when I lived with one of my exes we took one in. I wouldn’t see that cat for days sometimes but if I opened a can of tuna she would all of the sudden behind me meowing really loudly.
My kitty won’t touch people food. She will act all crazy like she wants it when we open a can of tuna or if we’re having salmon for dinner, but when I’ve tried to give it to her, she turns up her nose at it.
He likes the smell and he’ll lick it, but he won’t actually eat the meat. He’s kind of a weirdo though and doesn’t really like much “people food” except for popcorn.
Our late cat absolutely LOOOOOOVED tuna. Whenever I’d use the can opener, regardless of whether or not it was tuna I was opening, he’d go absolute ape shit. Every cat I’ve ever known has loved tuna at any age so I don’t think the kitten argument is exactly valid.
Went crazy. I used to let her drink the juice when I used canned tuna. She went crazy right up until she passed (age 15+).
Our cat loooooves tuna… Her name is Luna so we have been calling her “Luna-Tuna” due to her obsession. 😉 And although she will never turn down tuna we have found that she goes realllllly nuts over salmon.
Our cats, Tango and Zulu, refuse to eat it. They’ll lick the “gravy” but won’t eat the actual tuna. My parents’ cat, Kilo, LOVESSSSS it. Our guys won’t eat canned food either, or any sort of regular treat, like turkey or other types of fish. They only like dry cat food and cat treats.
