I don’t know why I want to know so badly, but I really want to know if mine fluoresces.
Have you ever heard that a blue fluorescence can make a slightly yellower tinted diamond appear whiter?
When I was a kid I went to them gem wing of some museum and they had an exhibit with fluorescent diamonds. So I wanted one.
Not that it’s practical. How can you even tell?
So… is yours?

I’m not sure, but when I’m at work and under black lights, my diamond glows bright white/blue/purple. I’m not sure how to describe it, but its so pretty and noticable. I’ll have to find out for sure and I’ll let you know

@maskelunass:AWESOME! Yours fluoresces! I need a black light, who can lend me one?

I thought it would be nice to have a fluorescing diamond, but I’m alright with it not having fluorescence. I haven’t checked the band to see if any of those stones fluoresce.
I have another ring with small diamonds that have some fluorescence, but it’s really not noticeable because the diamonds are so small.

Right before the wedding I went to a tanning salon and could see it lighting up. It was neat (but i was afraid to open my eyes).

Go to a tanning bed and you will see 😉
Mine does not!

@FMM:Cool. I’ve never been! I might go once a month before the wedding–need to get rid of all my crazy strap and running bra/shirt tans!
Added bonus–checking the diamond.

@ellabee: while florencense can make a diamond look whiter it’s not considered a desireable diamond quality because it also makes it look merky or hazy. If a diamond has florencense, its price will be significantly lower than the same diamond that does not have florecense. Your diamond certificate should clearly state whether your diamond has florecence.

Yes, mine has a bit of flourescence. It’s considered a lower-quality thing and makes the diamond cheaper, but it makes my ring look so white and bright. It is awesome.
edit: blue flourescence, that is.

I have no clue what you’re even talking about… 🙁

@Meowkers:It’s an antique, so it does not have a regular certificate. The appraisal gave us lots of info, but we never asked about fluorescence.

Damn, i want to know if mine does!!
But i have no clue what it means!

I wish! My bday diamond ring does and I loooove it! My e-ring does not though. 🙁

My center stone doesn’t, but three of my random other 32 tiny ones do haha! One of them is SO bright, and I really kinda wish my center stone did it, I think it’s awesome!

FH says he believes there is a faint blue flourescents. It’s on the certificate but I’m too lazy to go look.
