It depends on the lighting for mine.

I have a diamond and it only “sparkles” (ie: with the entire ROYGBIV visible color spectrum) in certain lighting and direct sunlight, which is pretty normal with diamonds.

calliekalico2 :  it sounds like you’re worried about your ring given your two recent posts. My diamond sparkles a ton it sun and top lighting it is bright and beautiful in all lights but performs best as I described previously.

Let us see a pic so we can assure you that ur ring is gorgeous.

My diamond looks pretty good in flourescent lighting but can be pretty gross looking in certain store lighting. Store lighting can make my ring sparkle like crazy when clean or foggy and blue tinted when dirty.

FYI the cut grade of your diamond will have a huge impact on how sparkly your diamond is. If your diamond is a “very good” cut, it isn’t going to be nearly as sparkly as a “super ideal” cut. This is one of the reasons they say “cut is king”. My diamond is very sparkly when I notice it being very sparkly. I guess I don’t pay enough attention to know if it’s sparkly all the time.

I have a cluster so it’s a bunch of tiny diamonds. It’s SUPER sparkly in certain lighting (oddly enough dim lights make it sparkle) and really dull in other lighting.

I feel like mine sparkles all the time and I’m pretty sure both the cut and clarity are on the lower end of the spectrum, but I have a lot of small stones around my center stone, so that might help. I also clean it everyday wuth liquid hand soap and a toothbrush as part of my morning routine so maybe it’s that. Or maybe it’s just an “eye of the beholder” thing, who knows?

My centre stone sparkles most of the time and I get some pretty great flashes from my side stones but they’re generally not as sparkly as the centre…. Here’s a picture for you.

It’s mostly the cut of the stone. Emerald cuts just aren’t as sparkly I think. Don’t overthink! Your ring is beautiful 😊

Mine generally does, but it is also a round brilliant cut. A lot of this depends on the cut, as asschers and emeralds and some princess cuts and some OECs or OMCs will reflect in a very different manner. They are often not “sparkly” or “glittery” in the way that RBs, pears, ovals and some cushions are, but they are equally beautiful in a different way. But don’t compare an emerald cut to a Round Brilliant, say, and expect to see the same performance. Again, they are both gorgeous, but in entirely different ways, so asking people whether their diamond sparkles in all lighting won’t tell you anything unless you know the cuts you are dealing with.

Yes it sparkles all the time. Even in not-so-good lighting.

No – unfortunately it doesnt … I have always thought it was the light I was under etc but when I got it professionally cleaned it was sooooooo shiny in EVERY type of light for about 2 weeks … so I am thinking maybe it’s little bits of dirt under the stone that mostly influence the shine rather than the light for me…. although I will say it is shinier in some lighting evironments.

Emeralds just don’t have a glittery disco ball type sparkle. Mine sparkles enough. I wouldn’t say every type of lighting. I don’t really stare at it all that much. You really don’t seem to like that ring. It’s extremely expensive and I know you feel badly about it but if you don’t like it, do something about it NOW while it is new. You don’t need to keep creating excuses about what’s wrong with it. Everyone wants to love their e-ring.
