My wedding dress gathers to the side at the waist. Does yours? Which type of bustle are you going with?
There is the American bustle – bustled on the outside:
Or the French Bustle, with is bustled underneath the gown:

If it gathers off to the side, you could create your own bustle! On the side that it gathers, pull it up to make a little gather. The rest of the train can be brought to the other side and bustled on the side. That way you don’t lose the beautiful side gathering look of the train, the bustle will look very similar to the way the dress looks with the train out. Sorry I don’t have any pics. I know it can be done, I’ve seen it many times and its beautiful!

I like the side bustle idea! OMG that is my rug in the 2nd pic (French bustle). The thing is, it’s been discontinued forever and my dogs chewed mine, so I JUST got another the other day from an out of town Craigslister! TOO funny. Incidentally, I have NO idea what my gown bustle was called -it had 2 points underneath.

Check out Mrs. Nachos’ posts. She had an asymetrical dress and a beautiful bustle. There is one post where she explains exactly what they did.

@riley jane: Thanks for the referral to Mrs. Nacho – I will definitely look at that! I need to figure this out in 2 weeks for my fitting (after it’s hemmed) so I think that I’ll have them pin it up in different ways so I can see.
I’ve never seen this side bustle before! So interesting and lovely!
