He’s been to all of my appointments. Just really excited I guess. Our first son has Down Syndrome, so I would not want to be alone to find out that something is wrong again (baby looks perfect so far!).
stillme: Mines only come to the ultrasounds so far (anything “big”)…. I didnt really see a need for him to come to the regular appts since all they do is ask me how I am, measure my belly, listen to the heartbeat (so 10 minutes max). If something comes up and it’s indicated there’s an issue, and I wanted/needed him to be there for support he would, but currently there’s no need. I literally work across the parkinglot from a lab where I get my blood tests done so its just easy for me to pop over. He would have to take so much time off work driving to and from the doctors and waiting that it just doesnt make sense. Maybe in Jan when Im only weeks away from D-Day I might need him to drive me lol.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your responses… it is helpful to see what other couples do! I’m not feeling quite as sorry for myself as I was when I posted this, but I still think it’s worth talking to my husband about it.
My husband has gone to the first appointment to confirm the pregnancy and the 2 ultrasounds we have had so far. I have a regular check up on Tuesday and he will not be going to that one. He will go to our anatomy scan in 3 weeks.
My husband went to my 11 week appointment to hear the heartbeat and then my 20 week ultrasound. Thats it. I wouldn’t make him come to my quick 15 minute appointments
My husband came to quite a few but honestly most of them were a waste of his time. I think he was happy to come to the appt where we first heard the heartbeat and then all of the ultrasound appointments (I had a 12/16w, 20w, and 41w ultrasound). Other than that, the appointments are so brief that it was sort of a waste of time!
They don’t do anything at those regular appointments other than pee in a cup, check blood pressue, measure belly and listen to the heartbeat. So I was always in and out in under 15min. Sort of a waste of a trip for him.
