MY FH sometimes might take a friend out to lunch on their birthday, that’s about it!

Not really. I mean, his best friend is his brother, so yes he gets his brother a gift, but his other friends he’ll usually just treat to lunch or dinner, depending on if it’s a work friend or a different friend. He’s bought bday gifts for other friends, but usually only if there is a “party” to go to. Sometimes just money in a card.

I would agree with you, though. I see girls get bday presents for other girls much more often! I know I do.

Only for his best friend, same with Christmas presents.  It’s nice but I don’t think it’s ever reciprocated!

No, actually he does not…I actually do not know of any guys that get their friends gifts! If my Darling Husband suddenly started buying his friends gifts, I’d probably find it cute. Wonder why men usually do not do this?

Depends. sometimes yes, sometimes no. All our really close friends live across the country or in some other state.

We take a few of our friends out for the Bday and will get presents, but they are all couples so its from both of us. If its the guy though he will pick it out.

If he is with a friend near a bday, he will sometimes buy something small. Not always.

Nope.  My husband doesn’t even buy presents  for his brother and sister.  I’m the only one he buys birthday presents for.  We do get our niece and nephew presents, but I buy those.

My husband does for his close friends. I actually don’t – just not the norm in our circle!!

@jjmomma:  Mine too.  But now that I think about it, my girlfriends and I just go out for dinner/drinks and cover each other.  We are really emotionally supportive and I am probably the better gift giver out of everyone, but I do prefer the time over a gift.

My Darling Husband doesn’t buy gifts for anyone, now that I think about it.  He used to when he was making a ton (before the economy crashed) but now he’s changed his mind to ‘we don’t need gifts, we need to spend time together’ which is a nice thought but probably just makes him come off as cheap.  Good thing I like giving gifts and wrapping gifts or else none of his family would ever get anything.  Shit, this just reminded me that I still haven’t bought my mother a birthday gift.  DOH!

My husband is so funny…he always says, “guys don’t buy eachother presents”.  I’m always horrified because I buy presents (even something small!!) for basically everyone I know for their birthdays lol

Only for certain friends, but even then not all the time. If he’s going to be seeing someone or celebrating their birthday with them, he’ll usually get a bottle of scotch. He recently saw a shirt with a pigeon on it and bought it for a friend of his because they have some kind of inside joke about pigeons (?). We also exchange gifts every year with our friends who are married to each other and he always picks out a separate gift for the guy/husband because they work together and are pretty close.
