I don’t think it matters. I’ve had the same thoughts but honestly I don’t think it should affect your decision at all!

    My ring:

I often wear dresses, but I also wear jeans and a t-shirt and I don’t feel like my ring is too fancy.

I’m a jeans and a t-shirt kind of girl, and I’ve got a halo ring. It feels like me, even though it doesn’t necessarily seem as “down-home” as I might regularly dress. I think my ring goes great with everything! I think you’re overthinking it. Although since you are wanting a yellow stone, it might not match with every color that you wear. I think you have to decide if that bothers you.

Not engaged, but seriously go try on some rings!  That way you’ll see what you like on your finger. Sometimes you like something different than you thought.

Mine does match my style. I feel it is elegant, timeless and artistic, and has a solid presence without being “loud”, which is pretty much what I try to go for in my style as well.

@canarydiamond:  It sounds like we have very similar styles.  I love clothes, but I will always choose comfort over fashion!  My workplace is very casual, so I’m able to wear jeans, t-shirts, and/or hoodies all the time.  I do own some nice clothes of course, but I’d say I’m in something pretty casual at least 90% of the time (if not more).

That being said, my fiance and I went ring shopping together and I chose a ring that reflected my taste in jewelry.  This is quite different from my aforementoned style (at least in my opinion).

I’ve never felt silly wearing my ring with a hoodie.  Does it look better when I dress up?  Probably.  But it’s not a big deal to me.  I say go with the ring you love!

Oh, and I’m sure you’ve seen my ring before since I’ve posted it on the ring boards multiple times, but I’ll post it again for reference:

I would be more concerned with it matching my lifestyle…  Like, are you active?  Do you want to wear it to the gym and hiking?  Are you in the pool all the time? or do you like to do your home repairs with jewelry on?  Then I would not get pave of any kind. And if you are in the pool, you should get platinum not gold.

Personally, I am feminine and like pretty/frilly/lacey things.  My rings match that.  I am not an emerald cut solitiare girl, even though I think that is pretty.  It does not match “me” at all.

Everyone says that my ring suits me. I’ve been going through a bit of depression lately because my work has been slow for me, so I’m mostly in sweatpants and a hoodie all day. So I’m kind of confused when people say that. Normally, when I’m really myself, I am very feminine love all things delicate, feminine, and sparkly. =) But since I’ve fallen into a depression more times in my life than I’d like to count, I feel like I end up wearing t-shirts and yoga pants a lot. But I guess it suits the “real me”, haha.

If you get what you find to be beautiful, trust me, its your style! You wouldn’t love it if it weren’t.

Very much so. I’m pretty simple and tend toward a more classic style, so Darling Husband and I chose a princess cut solitaire. I love it, and it is perfectly me.

I chose not to have an engagement ring at all, and my wedding ring is a plain yellow gold band.  However, I think most people expect that you will wear your ring(s) all the time, and that they can’t match every outfit you might ever wear.

@canarydiamond:  I always got back to solitaires. I have a simple style with a funky edge but honestly I don’t think any ring will reflect my style at all… it comes down to what you like to see on your finger regardless of what you are wearing. I know this lady who was always wearing tennis/gym clothing yet she had a huge pear with side baguettes and always wore it. The center alone must’ve been at least 3 carats but I thought it was awesome how she rocked it!

My ring is three-sided pave with half moon side stones (.75 ct each) and a 2 ct sapphire… so pretty blingy… I am a t-shirt and jeans girl. I think it’s just fine! Get what you like and it will match your style because you like it, and your style is made up of what you like!
