I found a sapphire (on Etsy) and I LOOOVE the colour (and price!). I should mention that I’m picky on the colour so I haven’t found many sapphiees that I like. Anyways on the listing it says it has some “banding” or slight streaks that aren’t very noticeable. So… Just wondering does your sapphire have any flaws and do they bother you? Can you even notice them?

@atreyu547: I have an oval blue sapphire RHR that has a flaw at the top of the halo. It looks like a grain of sugar. 90% of the time I can’t see it. I have to sit there turning it in the right light to catch a glimps. It doesn’t bother me at all (I knew it was there when I bought it). To me it shows that it is a real sapphire, not man made (though I know you can weirdly get man made ones with flaws?).
For some reason I didnt want my diamond engagement ring to have visible flaws, but I embraced it with my sapphire. Everyone is different though 🙂

@Ella_Bella: Man-made sapphires are real sapphires. The difference is just that they were made in a lab as opposed to mined.
@atreyu547: Depending on the colour of the sapphire, the flaws listed may not be all that noticeable. Could you ask the seller to send you more pics of the stone?

@Miss Circe: I meant real as in from the earth. Of course a man made stone of any kind is real (it exists doesn’t it). I didn’t mean to offend and am certainly not interested in jacking this thread.

@Ella_Bella:
yes that what I was thinking, the picture of the flaw was very zoomed in plus its in the bottom part so I don’t think it should affect it. But then again its for my engagement ring so I don’t want to make any mistakes. (Plus im super indecisive)
@Miss Circe:
*facepalm* why didnt i think of that? Lol I shall! So excited 🙂
. Oh and its a medium blue sapphire with a hint of teal.

@atreyu547: Yeah I don’t think it would noticeable unless you stare closely and analyze it constantly but definitely see if you can get more pics from different angles and distances. You should get something that you’re happy with for your engagement ring

And be sure to share a pic when you get it

Mine has colorless 3 rutile crystals in one quadrant. An untrained eye cannot see them so it is declared “eye clean” I can see them at the right angle doesnt bug me. Love it I know it proves my sapphire is untreated and very natural. This is also a hallmark of stones from the region mine came from so the fact that it did not affect the clarity is what matters.
