My husband used to buy roses like clockwork usually a well prior to a big event- unexpected. But,  I have asked him to stop.  I don’t b tale care of them and don’t really enjoy them.

@renwoman:  We don’t really ‘do’ Valentine’s Day; we might exchange a card, but that’s it. So yeah, no roses here lol.

He just buys me flowers randomly, which I like ๐Ÿ™‚

We do things for each other on Valentine’s day, but not only is it impossible for him to send me flowers and chocolates (we are in an LDR), those things are just too ephemeral. Flowers wilt and chocolates don’t last long with me in the house. Both of us prefer things we can keep. For example, I just posted off the sheet music for song I wrote for him (it is pretty good if I do say so myself. It is a baroque style piece for a contralto) that I intend to sing for him when he visits. I don’t know what he is sending me. Honestly, the main thinig we really want for eachother is to spend the day together

@renwoman:  nah. He gets me flowers (whatever looks good) at the farmers market at least once a month. I don’t think the roses are worth it around Vday.

@renwoman:  My fiance buys me flowers throughout the year, and definitely on valentines day along with birthday, holidays, etc.

I have never ONCE asked for flowers and honestly I don’t even like them. They die quickly and I barely notice them. I don’t want to tell him to stop getting them because its cute that he always tries to “surprise” me with them

I would prefer to recieve at least 1 rose, and he knows that, and is pretty good at giving me a rose on valentine’s day. He also LOVES purchasing roses for me, he said he loves the way it makes him feel [He’s a weird one!]. He normally gets alot of women & men commenting on how much he cares about me.

He normally also gets me other random gifts as well, sometimes chocolates or stuffed animals [although, I have asked him to stop with the stuffed animals as I hate to get rid of them, but am out of room!].

And we always go out & have dinner/movie, if not on the day of [because sometimes he works], after.

I like to receive some kind of flower (: Valentine’s day is also my birthday, so I expect something ๐Ÿ˜‰

ETA: My Fiance has gotten me roses several times, but I hate that they’re so expensive on Valentine’s Day. If he’s going to get me roses, I prefer that they’re the $25 ones from the grocery store, not the $100 ones from the flower shop. I actually like carnations more, because they last longer and are super fluffy looking (:

I’d kill him if he spent $100 on something that will be dead in a week. No, thank you. Give me the money instead ๐Ÿ˜›

He did that last year: “here’s your flowers” as he passes me $100 ๐Ÿ˜€ it’s entirely silly to get caught up in commercialism.

Valentine’s Day is the only day of the year when he buys me flowers, so yes I love getting them! They don’t have to be roses but he has bought me some beautiful ones in previous years.

@renwoman:  I agree, we do the same. It’s just silly to me to spend all that money on something that’s going to die within a few days. He usually gets me a carnation, though. They aren’t priced nearly as high and they last way longer.

@renwoman:  I voted “other” – I don’t “require/expect” flowers, but I like them. Fiance always does something for vday, which I really appreciate.  On my birthday he gave me 18 pink and white roses (pink are my favourite) in a glass vase and had them sent to my work. They were super pricey but I really liked it because I felt so special and everyone kept complimenting them ๐Ÿ™‚

Nope! We don’t celebrate V-day.  Reason 1, my birthday is Feb 7th so I feel silly having him feel like he “has” to get me something so soon after spending money on me for my birthday. And 2, I have always loathed Valentine’s day… its sweet that its special to some people, or that its their anniversary, etc etc.  But I hate the rest of the commercialism that surrounds it, and the way that it makes some people either feel forced into doing something or feel bad because they are single. BLah.

No, because I don’t want to support the cut flower industry and I don’t care about Valentine’s Day.

Nope. I get a plant, which is normally an orchid. We like that they live longer but he said I was getting something bigger this year so I hope its the mini fig tree I want.
