Well we have only been together for 1 valentines day so far, he did get me a few roses last year. He doesn’t buy me flowers very often, so I would really like some kind of flowers, though I don’t care if they are roses.

My husband buys me flowers and/or roses from time to time, but NOT at Valentine’s Day because the prices skyrocket. I like flowers but I don’t need them, and it is a bummer how quickly they die!

He doesn’t like buying cut flowers (“they just die!”) so I tell him that diamonds are forever 🙂

I would much rather have jewelry anyways!

He gets me flowers once in a while, randomly, but we don’t really do Valentine’s Day.

My husband usually gets me flowers for Valentine’s day. I’ve never told him he should, but I do enjoy them. Usually they’re orange roses (my favorite)!

@renwoman:  I love getting flowers anytime of year, and Darling Husband does usually buy them on Valentine’s day, but I answered other to your poll as I would not say they were “expected”…

I LOOOOOOVE getting flowers, it’s a very special treat for me.

HOWEVER! Fiance has no idea what to get and he isn’t the type to just get me flowers one day…

So as much as I hate the markup on valentines day, it’s basically the only day he thinks to get me flowers – and beggars can’t be choosers can they?!

I rather get something more practical that doesn’t die after a week…. haha

I always tell Darling Husband not to get me flowers because it’s a waste of money but he always does anyway! I guess I do subconciously expect them lol. He knows I don’t like roses though so he always get me different flowers in my favorite color! It’s not so much the flowers but the thought that counts 🙂

He usually does but last year I finally told him I honestly hate roses and to not spend the money on them. I’m happy with a bunch of pretty wildflowers more than roses and honestly I don’t like flowers all that much. I wish he’d get me something else and not spend the money on them!

I don’t expect them or require them, but he will send them. We both love flowers and have flowers delivered every week for our house.

I like fresh flowers, but they are a waste of money for us because my boy cat will shred them immediately.

I voted “other,” because my ex never got me flowers (except when I told him I wanted a divorce).  But I was always jealous of women that got flowers.  I would like to get them, I think.

But why not get them from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods?  That way they don’t cost an arm and a leg?

Flowers are a waste of money IMO. He picks out cute gifts for me that last, like stuffed animals or books he thinks I’d like. I make him handmade stuff along with anything I see to buy that I think he’d like. We are weird, quirky, nerdy people, so our idea of romance isn’t flowers and candy anyway.

@renwoman:  I like receiving them but told Darling Husband if he’s going to spend $50+ on me I’d rather he buy me a pair of heels that I’ll have for more than a week 😉

Plus, there kind of wasted in my household because my cat will eat them so I either put them on our highest shelf where I can’t enjoy them or take them to work where I can only enjoy them part of the day.

My dad always gets my mom flowers, but he buys them from the grocery store because she doesn’t want him spending a ton on her.
