We’ve joked about it, I prefer male, as I’ve had a bad experience with a couple women gynos.

@Mrs_Amanda:   Some religions require that women not be seen unclothed by men other than their husband.  This is well known in the medical community.

My fiancé would never give me medical advice in general, let alone regarding something frivolous such as the gender of my doctor.  My fiance works in professional sports, whereas one of my three degrees is in nursing and I have a background in healthcare.  My fiancé asks ME what doctors he should see, and my answers are based on the physicians’ expertise, not the physician’s gender.

I’ve seen a gyno once.  It was just to talk, I was fully clothed.  If my GP referred me to a gyno, I would trust her to send me to one that could either get me in ASAP or who would be best for my condition depending on what the issue was.

DH doesn’t factor in to this at all, nor would he care.  When seeing a specialist most people don’t have the luxury of picking.

I’m pretty sure my Fiance doesn’t care. He’s really not the jealous type. I currently prefer female, but I have always heard men were better! I may try a male next just to see.

I prefer female and I’ve never discussed this with my SO. I doubt he even knows what gender my gyno is.

However, if he ever tried to share an opinion as to the gender of my *DOCTOR*, I would likely smack him across the face 😛

I’ve only been to females so far, but I’m thinking I might try a male sometime. I just asked my husband and he doesn’t care.

I don’t think all SOs who care are like this, but my ex fiance was really controlling and manifested it in several ways including gynecologists. He didn’t want me to see a male, which was fine with me, but he also got very upset about the idea of me having an IUD because he didn’t want any doctors to be aroused by my procedure. Having had an IUD inserted I can confirm that what I believed before is true. There is nothing sexy about it :).

@Mrs_Amanda:  I prefered a female gyno, but my OB is a man, and I LOVE him! I never want to go back to a female doctor! (Old man doctors are SO mellow about everything)

I’d never let my SO tell me what doctor and I can and can not see. It’s my body and my decision. If I like the doctor and trust them then that’s all that matters.

I’d be pissed beyond measure if my SO thought they had any say in what the sex of my doctor was.

@Mrs_Amanda:  Jesus, it’s a doctor. Is there anything on earth less sexy than a pap smear, whether you are giver or receiver? I’d be seriously weirded out by an SO that cared about that.

I usually don’t care about the sex of my ob/gyn, though I’ve oddly ended up with more men than women. Sometimes I think I might be more comfortable with a dude, though that might be just experience.

@Mrs_Amanda:  My personal preferrence is female. I had only male doctors as a teena nd throughout my first pregnancy. Then I switched to female and never went back. But that’s just me. Fiance has never asked whether I use a male or female GYNO, but even if he did he would have no say in the matter. It’s my vagina and I rule over everything that affects it.

This should be 100% your choice and he really should not have an opinion about it (how I see it atleast)

If my Fiance decided to have an opinion , I would tell him to get over it and invite him to an appt. LOL!

I see a male doctor and the ONLY reason Fiance knows this is because his name is Dr. Cullen which I find hilarious . He is even young (ish-40’s ) and blonde like Dr. Cullen. ( Been seeing him before twilight came out for those who are wondering, not a crazy twihard lol!)

@Mrs_Amanda:  So doesn’t care.  I used to prefer female but I had a male and he was much gentler and open to discussion than my female OB/GYN.  She assumed she knew EVERY THING about lady parts and tended to be rough.  My male OB/GYNs treat my lady areas with gentleness and respect.

I’ve had it all. Female, male… once a male doctor AND a female trainee nurse at the same time. I don’t really care, that’s their job and they probably see 20 hoo-has a day. and my FH doesn’t care less. If he had to see a doctor about his peen, if it’s a lady – meh!
