(Closed) Does your sofa back up to a wall? If so, what’d you put on the wall to decorate?

I have a painting that’s actually 3 canvases (it’s one picture covering 3 canvases.  Does that make sense?).  So, it spans the wall behind the couch.  Before that I had a 3 peice metal wall hanging separated by canvas covered in cute fabric.

Candy Nee, that is called a tryptic, FYI.

I took 3 gallery wrap canvases and stretched fabric over them, then glued it to the back. It’s a tryptic of fabric! No photos until it gets hung tonight.

Cost: $15/panel ($45) + fabric ($10.99/yard-Amy Butler)=$80 total. Not bad for a huge piece of “art”

We picked up a skyline painted on canvas at HomeGoods for about $40, if I remember correctly. It’s rather big and seems to be just enough.

My parents always had a large painting there.  Recently they redid their living room and did two small prints and then this cool mirror/candle holder thing in the middle.  It looks really nice.

I got one of my photos blown up way-massive-big. I still think the wall maybe needs a little something else though….

That’s what it’s called!!!  I thought I knew the name of it and then I couldn’t remember, let alone spell it.  Thanks!

If your daring and wanted to do something super dramatic, you could make or buy a stencil and paint a mural right on the wall!

This is so beautiful & dramatic, i love it!!

Our sofa is against the wall – – We have a huge rectangular mirror that we got from Z Gallery that hangs above it (the sofa, lol.) Our townhouse isn’t that big, the mirror gives the illusion that the room is larger than it is…Or at least thats what its supposed to do, LOL

That mural is awesome.  Wonder if our landlord would mind…

@corgi – sorry, thread jack –

Have you tried rotating that sectional to have the long sofa on the wall, the shorter sofa parallel with the walkway and the chaise pointing toward the center of the room? Is it too big that way? The reason I ask is because with those windows and that wall and painting, I would almost want to pull the sectional out a foot or so to put a long console table behind it. Long! Put lamps or even wall sconces (as long as they were larger in scale – big room) next to your photo. I love that photo and i remember when you posted it originally. I would also consider putting floor to ceiling window treatments in. Oh my, i could go crazy in there sketching for you, haha. If you were in Jacksonville I would force you to work with me.

@AnnieAAA – is THAT your house?  OMG, that is beautiful.  It looks straight out of a magazine!

We have a narrow row house, so put a huge mirror over our couch – it has a really pretty frame and makes the living room seem a lot bigger.  Plus, FH likes it because he can shoot the remote control waves off the mirror from the dining room.  (Boys…)
