Isn’t it illegal to leave a dog in a car in the UK??

I know that people are within their rights to call the police who will then smash their way into the car.

Pretty sure it comes under animal cruelty laws

rad2017 :  No way! I totally would have included my own dog in our wedding, had it been possible but I can’t imagine somebody else’s dog kind of being roped in.

It is not possible for that dog to be left in a car. I would suggest a dog sitter or dog walker for the day and see if that calms your parents down.

pond :

I did that ( here in Australia)  -called the police I mean, not left a dog ! The young cop happened to be a big dog lover and owner  and gave the asshole woman the serve  of her life when she got back.  And yes he broke in the car.

So tell your parents, OP that if they do  this, thats what  could happen .

Absolutely no, for every reason previously stated.

elderbee :  I was SO paranoid about that happening recently! We had to pick up our puppy immediately after leaving the airport when we went overseas, so we had his travel crate in the car and parked in long term parking. I was worried that someone would see the crate, think we’d left our puppy in the car and break in.

The dog-sitter is the best solution, obviously. But everyone knows how people are, you can talk yourself blue in the face and people are going to do what they want to do.

Leaving the dog in the car is a horrible alternative. If they insist on bringing the dog, I would insist that they take turns staying with the dog. If they can walk to the car to walk him, they can walk and change places to be with him. They won’t be seeing the wedding together but that is how it has to be if they insist on bringing the dog.

People are nuts.

rad2017 :  if your concern is seriously just “attention stealing” then let them bring the damn dog. some people will go say hi to the dog, but i PROMISE you that it won’t steal your spotlight. my parents brought our dog ot my sister’s wedding, and there was no attention stolen from the bride at all. i think you’re really kinda blowing this out of proportion. your parents will have a much more enjoyable time with the dog there, as they won’t be anxious about the dog all day. and you don’t have to go around and introduce the dog to everyone any more than you have to introduce any guests to everyone else, etiher.
