I’ve heard vinegar works really well – you mix it in equal parts water, soak the dog and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing.

Ooooh. I would call a vet! They might have a special tip. I know our groomer had a “de-skunking” package but its a little pricey lol. We have always used dawn dish soap with the baking soda and peroxide….dawn is AMAZING for doggie coat messes, but it dries them out and makes them itch! So maybe condition his coat after the smell is gone…

I have never tried tomato juice on a dog but my mom bathed in it when she was sprayed as a kid lol.  I’ve heard it works. Just maybe check with a vet first?

We bathed our Lab in tomatoe juice 3 times and it didn’t work. Go to a local petstore and buy the de-skunking shampoo. It worked a little more for us. Also, you may want to consider shaving him. That cut the smell alot.

I didn’t do tomato juice bc honestly I wasn’t sure how my dogs would react. My lab would probably flip out or just eat it off while I was trying to bath him. Plus depending on the size, you NEED A TON.  I took my dog to the groomer and did the deskunk package. Its fairly cheap and I have a 105lb lab. He goes monthly anyways and I just added this on. Best money I’ve spent bc it also saved us time and hassle with clean up at the house. One thing you need to remember is you never get it out on the first wash. They may smell better, but if they get wet, like my labs are frequent swimmers in our pond; it reactivates the skunk oil that may remain. Sometimes it does take 2-3 washes to get out completely. Good luck!

We used tomato juice on our dogs before.  It definitely works.  There will still be a small scent of skunk, but it’s 1000x better than before!
