I think it’s a lovely name, though, I’ve read that dogs can differentiate hard consonantes better, and you want to make sure that the dog can discern its name from a common command. So I might be concerned that “Fin” might sound a bit similar to “Sit”.

My twelve year old Irish Terrier is named Finn. When I got him, everyone thought his name was weird but in the past couple of years it’s becoming increasingly popular. (I now know at least five dogs named Finn/Finley, and several babies as well.)

That said, I still love the name … although obvuously I’m a bit biased.

Here’s my Finn!! 🙂

We have a Finley, but she is a girl. We call her Fin all the time. I don’t find anything strange about either name.

lalexa01 :  I LOVE Finn or Finley! It won’t be weird to say at all. In fact, you’ll probably come up with a bunch of nicknames, too. And Finn will be very easy to say when he’s getting into trouble all day long. FYI: Puppies are cute, but they’re a pain in the butt! Be ready for months and months of patience! And buy tennis balls. Retrievers love ’em!

I think it’s a great name but I’m biased because I have a Finn, too.

lalexa01 :  We like unisex names too. We have two daughters, Riley and Colby, and Dh’s name is also unisex.

I love the name Finley!  Not a Finn but I just adopted a dog on Saturday. We were told he is part retriever. We named him Winston.
