Haha my nephew’s name is Finn! I’d probably end up calling the dog Finny if it was Finn/Finley 🙂

Yup. Finn and Finley both known dogs names over here. And I also know two humans with this name. 

Other similar sounding names are Freddy and  Fergal (fits your name origin ideas).

I’d go with Finley because pet names just sound right with two syllables and ending in eeeee, and you can still address him as Finn if you feel like it some days. I think the extra syllable kinda helps them “catch” the sound better too.
