My dog Daisy was diagnosed with Addison’s disease 4 years ago. Since being on daily medication, (0.4mg of flurinef 2 times a day and 1/4 pill of prednisone every other day) she has been doing great, up until last night
Last night at around 6:40pm I went to go feed her and I found she had thrown up 3 times, cleaned it up, and came back in the kitchen and continued throwing up several times after that and had diarrhea once. My vet was not open so i called the emergency clinic and they consulted me over the phone and advised me to give her another dosage lf the prednisone to see if that would help. It did. She stopped vomiting, but she did have a lose stomach (she had diarrhea at 1:15am, 3:30am and just now 6:40am). She didn’t eat a full meal, I was told to hold off on food until the morning, I fed her this morning and she had a great appetite. She did go diarrhea again but it was very little. I plan on bringing her to her vet today of course.
I was just hoping that there are other pet owners who have been through something like this. I got really upset last night because I know Daisy is not a puppy anymore, she is 12, but if you knew her you wouldn’t think she was 12. Shes hyper, has a lot of spunk, not your typical 12 year old dog. And also because I leave Wednesday for vacation for a week and a half and she will be staying with my mother. I want to make sure my furbaby will be okay.
If your dog has Addison’s disease, besides from their first diagnosis, have they ever had another episode (vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy)? I am thinking that maybe Daisy needs to continue the 1/2 pill of prednisone every other day.
I had a terrible night last night, it was scary, I was sad for her. I took a day from work to be with her incase she doesn’t feel good again.
