It hasn’t been available as long as I’ve had my dog (a little over a year) because there were issues with the factory.  There’s no hint of when it’ll be available again, either, according to my vet.

have you heard of trifexis? my dog takes it and it’s for heartworm and fleas. it’s a chewable pill. it’s expensive but since it takes care of 2 things in one pill, it’s worth it. i don’t know if your dog would have a reaction because i don’t know what the ingredients are compared to heartguard but your vet should be able to tell you.

My dog was on Interceptor as well and she went for her annual check up in January and we were told that the Interceptor was on indefinite back order.  My vet gave us Heartgard instead.  She’s only taken it once so far, but no issues.  It’s a bigger, chewable meaty thing.  I think the vet said it also takes care of some other parasite as well as heartworm.

we switched from interceptor to trifexis. It is more expensive but protects against heartworms, other worms and fleas.
