I have a pug. Pugs are terrible to housetrain. I live in a house with carpet upstairs as well and my dog had a few accidents after I moved in. He does sleep with me at night though and at 10 years old he never gets up to bathroom during the night.

Get her a new crate in the bedroom and make sure you take her potty before bedtime. I refuse to sleep without my dog in my room no matter what so I feel your pain. But dogs won’t go in the crate so get her crate trained upstairs at night. Good luck!

@kelly105:  I am thank you very much, I have done my fair share of working in multibreed kennels and there’s a good reason I moved to a breed specific kennel! Ultimately the answer to a habitual problem is to train, if you have a particularly stubborn one then you’re just going to have to train harder, but a  dog as an adult should be easier to train than it’s former puppy self and that is all I meant by that.

I never knew you could leave a dog on it’s own for so long to be honest. Oh well good luck with whatever you do 🙂
